As you probably know, your Wi-Fi router’s settings are what dictate how quickly and efficiently your Internet connection operates, click to read more. If they’re not set correctly, you might find yourself wasting a lot of time waiting for a page to load. There’s no need for this, though, as setting your settings properly will allow your computer and your Internet to function like it did the day you first bought it. Here’s how to do it.
Most people who’ve tried to access their Internet from a laptop or other net-ready device have found that there is a few different ways to go about it. The majority of these involve pulling up the Web browser on your computer and navigating through a series of different web pages until you find the page that you want to connect to. At that point, you click the enter key, usually followed by a period. That’s all it takes, really.
This method, while it works perfectly fine, does have one flaw. If you’re in a crowded area, you might not get where you’re going as fast as you’d like. If you don’t know anyone who can help you, there is also the alternative of typing in the address of the wireless site you’d like to connect to. In theory, you’ll get to where you want to go, but how will you know if you have enough Internet access to get where you need to go? And even if you do have enough Internet, how will you know if the page you are trying to access is actually accessible online?
The good news is that if you’re looking for how to access your wi-fi router’s settings, you can find it using software. You might already have such software on your computer, as most people these days have it installed. There are a few different types of software that can do the job, but most of them are designed for Macs or Windows PCs. It’s very likely, though, that you have such software on your computer. Regardless of whether or not you already have such software, it’s still easy to find it this way.
The way it works is that you can download software that will not only tell you the SSID (or network name) of the wireless device you’re trying to access, but it will also let you know the password and the encryption options it offers. By reading the software log on the wireless router, you should be able to see any commands that came before and after you did the task. If anything, you should also be able to see the actual SSID, WEP password, and encryption options used on the actual computer. All of this is easily enough to figure out and then change the setting if you want. That’s why it’s important to keep the log on your computer as secure as you possibly can, especially with sensitive information on your computer.
The second part of finding the log on your computer that will allow you to change things on your wireless router is to look for it in a separate location. This means that you’ll have to access your computer on another computer somewhere else. If you don’t want to do this, you can also go online and search Google for your log. It might not be easy to find, though, so it may be worth going into the settings of your computer and making a system restore point before you do anything else. This will basically take you back to a previous date and time before you changed anything, which can give you peace of mind.
Now you can go back to your computer and enter these two pieces of information to access the control panel of your wireless device. On the home screen, go to ‘Network settings’ and then click on the padlock icon next to the router (bottom right). You will need to enter the SSID of the device. You will also need to know the password associated with the connection – usually this is something like ‘password’. Once you have done this, you can proceed to changing these two factors if necessary.
Finally, you can check your log on your computer for any messages that may tell you that the wireless network you are trying to access is not accessible because of a password. If you see this, just restart your computer and try again. If you have never used the Wi-Fi password feature before, it may take some time to get used to. With patience, though, you should be able to figure out how to access your Wi-Fi router settings in no time at all. Once you’re able to connect wirelessly to the internet without having to type in a password, you may never use the password again!
